Teaching philosophy

As a piano teacher, Dr. Li's goal is to uncover the musical potential within each student and help them discover a joy and appreciation for classical music. Fundamental concepts, such as note-reading, rhythm, proper technique, and musical expression are established from the beginning to instill confidence and independence at an early age.  Lessons are tailored to the individual’s age, interest, and learning ability.

Students enjoy activities in which they excel. Therefore, it is important to me that they strive to reach their highest potential within their first few years of study. To achieve this end, twice a week lessons are recommended for beginning students and active parent participation during lesson and home practice are essential.

While playing piano is fun, it also requires work. Music lessons are much more than simply learning to play an instrument.  Students gain life-long skills such as discipline, perseverance, self-confidence, and poise which will carry him/her well beyond his/her musical studies!
